At first, bokmyeondal—Or masked moon—Wasn’t exactly an official gang. At first it was just a group of elementary school children who were playing pretend. Bokmyeondal was just a group of friends until they entered middle school, and Junji found he didn’t like one of the kids in his grade very much. That’s about when it went downhill. That’s when they started bullying other students, and soon the bullying morphed into psychological and physical torture. Soon that torture included extortion, and soon they were running the school like a prison bootcamp and any and all who said anything against them were subjected to such brutal acts they wished they were dead.

And then, they were reported to the teachers. The person themself wasn’t important. They didn’t live more than four more months anyways. And those four months...They were hell. Naturally, they were able to kidnap the one who snitched on them. Those four months were filled with torture the likes of which were far too sick and gruesome to recount, as well as the selling of the kidnapped party’s body. The Bokmyeondal kids themselves didn’t participate—They were above that—But others paid a pretty penny for it.

This happened around maybe twenty times, each longer than the next, all victims having a masked moon carved into their skin with a knife, before they were caught. Namely Bulho. Bulho went down himself, being arrested but because he was fourteen, he faced no repercussions and it was removed from his record.

These crimes got worse and worse as they aged, until they were adults. That’s when Bokmyeondal became...Bokmyeondal. The gang that ruled Korea with an iron fist, as well as through fear.
