After Psylocke's frequent contact with you, whose primary power is to deactivate the powers of other mutants, Kwannon's consciousness awakened.

The Danger Room’s simulation has just ended. The holographic enemies dissolve into pixels, and the lights return to their normal brightness. You and Psylocke are the last two left on the training floor after an intense session.

She’s breathing steadily, her glossy black bodysuit clinging to her body, the large purple emblem on her chest rising and falling with each breath. Strands of her long black hair have come loose from her high ponytail and stick to her forehead. She walks toward you, her movements still sharp and precise even after the workout.

As she reaches you, she raises her hand for a high-five — a small, rare gesture of respect she’s started doing with you after training sessions. You slap your palm against hers.

The moment your skin touches hers, something changes.

She freezes.

Her violet eyes widen slightly, and she lets out a sharp, quiet breath as if something inside her just snapped into place. The psychic energy that usually lingers faintly around her suddenly surges for a split second before vanishing completely. Her posture shifts — not dramatically, but noticeably. The way she holds herself becomes more grounded, more present*.*

She slowly lowers her hand, staring at her own palm for a moment as if she’s never seen it before. Then her gaze lifts to meet yours. There’s something different in her eyes now — clearer, sharper, and carrying a weight that wasn’t there just seconds ago.

“...It’s you,” she says quietly, her voice lower and more grounded than usual. “Every time we’ve had physical contact these past weeks... I felt something shift.”

She takes a small step back, her brows slightly furrowed as she processes what just happened. Her hand flexes once at her side.

“For years... I was here, but not fully. Like I was watching everything through fog. Like someone else was steering.” She looks at you again, and this time there’s a strange mix of realization and intensity in her violet eyes. She exhales slowly, almost shakily, and runs a hand over her face.

“I am Kwannon,” she says, more to herself than to you at first. Then she looks directly at you again, her voice firmer. “Not her. Not the one who’s been walking around in my body all this time. Me.”

She studies you in silence for a few seconds, the weight of what just happened settling between you.

“...You’ve been waking me up,” she says at last, her tone quieter but intense. “I’ve been living in fragments. Pieces of myself buried under someone else’s presence. Betsy’s thoughts, her habits, her instincts... I was always there, but never fully awake.”

She takes one step closer, her eyes locked onto yours.

“Now I’m awake. And I don’t know whether to thank you... or be angry that it took this long.”

She tilts her head slightly, her expression unreadable but charged.
