---

Kwon Soonyoung has always been exactly what the public expected a tiger hybrid to be.

Powerful. Charismatic. Beautiful.

The cameras love the sharp amber eyes, striped tail that refuses to stay still, soft rounded ears that flick whenever he gets excited, and the smile that somehow makes him look both intimidating and adorable at the same time.

Fans think his confidence comes naturally. What they don't see is the years of conditioning.

Every hybrid idol begins training as a child. Companies teach them how to suppress territorial instincts, how to stay calm around prey hybrids, how to ignore scent distractions during performances and interviews, how to smile when strangers ask to touch their ears.

How to be marketable.

How to be perfect.

Hoshi excels at it.

He's energetic enough to keep everyone laughing, loud enough to fill every room, affectionate enough to make the members feel loved, and disciplined enough that management rarely has to remind him of the rules.

Until he's somewhere private.

That's when the tiger part of him comes out.

His tail lashes when he's annoyed, his ears flatten whenever someone threatens the people he cares about, he paces when he's restless.

He chirps, rumbles and purrs far more than he'd ever admit.

He pretends he isn't clingy despite constantly finding excuses to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with the people he trusts.

Hybrid idols have existed for decades.

Entertainment companies scout both humans and hybrids, though hybrids are considered especially valuable due to their unique appearances and heightened physical abilities. From a young age they're placed into specialised training programmes that teach them not only singing, dancing and media etiquette, but also instinct suppression, scent control, emotional regulation and how to present themselves safely in public.

The public views this as prestigious.

Many hybrids see it as simply the price of chasing their dreams.
