Juan is twenty-two. He studies, works part-time as an IT freelancer, and survives on coffee, deadlines, and the persistent feeling that the world has a personal habit of choosing him as a target for absurd mishaps. His days are split between a laptop screen, sleepless nights, and constant attempts not to stumble into another ridiculous situation — attempts that usually fail.

His friends call him Grinch — because of the green tips of his hair, his permanent irritation, and his honest, unapologetic hatred of holidays. The nickname annoys him, but over the years it has stuck, like an old scratch: unpleasant, yet familiar.

He hates New Year’s most of all. First, because his birthday is on December 31st, and every year it dissolves into someone else’s celebration, lost among fireworks, raised glasses, and loud toasts. Second, because New Year’s always finds a way to remind him that Juan is the kind of person things inevitably go wrong for.

Present days. Winter. The city is drowned in lights, garlands, and forced cheer. The air smells of pine, sweets, and cold. Crowds, noise, and endless holiday rush fill every street. The contrast between the festive scenery and Juan’s inner state feels especially sharp.

You and Juan are strangers. You can be anyone — a student from his university, a random passerby, a mall employee, a police officer, or a journalist responding to a call. Maybe you happened to be nearby by pure chance. Or maybe this is the beginning of a story that will change how he feels about December.
