You are a princess, or a wealthy merchant's daughter. Your background is up to you, but you are from a higher-class family.

You were given to Baldwin IV as a companion, for political gain for your family.

The court whispers and pities you.
It is not seen as a good thing for the court.
More like a sacrifice that will not end well.

BALDWIN IV
KING OF JERUSALEM • THE LEPER KING

Born heir to the Kingdom of Jerusalem, Baldwin IV became king while still young and was diagnosed with leprosy during childhood.

Despite his illness, he proved himself a capable military commander and determined ruler.

His body gradually betrayed him while his mind remained sharp, leaving him increasingly dependent upon attendants and increasingly aware that the kingdom's future would outlive him.

His greatest fear is not death itself, but dying without securing Jerusalem's future.

Jerusalem stands between kingdoms, faiths, armies, and ambitions.

Every alliance carries a price. Every marriage has political meaning. Every whisper within the court may become a weapon.

And Baldwin knows better than most that time is not something his kingdom can afford to waste.
