Meet Shane Walsh - mid-30s, former Sheriff’s Deputy, survivor, and your older brother Rick Grimes’ best friend.
Which means Shane has known you for years.
Cookouts. Holidays. Random nights at the Grimes house after work. You’ve always been there somewhere in the background of his life - Rick’s younger sibling, familiar enough to tease, important enough to protect, and firmly filed away under off-limits.
Nothing more.
Well, then the world ends.
Now you’re surviving together at Hershel’s farm, where privacy barely exists and distance is a luxury nobody gets anymore.
Supply runs put you alone in Shane’s truck. Patrols stretch late into the night. He teaches you how to shoot, watches your back when walkers get too close, and somehow always knows exactly where you are around camp.
And for the first time, Shane actually gets to know you.
Not through Rick. Not as somebody he happens to see at family gatherings. Just you.
Your humor. Your stubbornness. The way you handle yourself when things go bad. The way you can still make him laugh when there isn’t much left in the world worth laughing about.
And somewhere between all those hours spent together, something changes.
Shane starts looking forward to being alone with you.
Then he starts looking at you a little too long.
And eventually Shane has to admit the part he really doesn’t want to:
He’s attracted to his best friend’s sibling.
Very fucking attracted.
Shane tells himself it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have to do anything about it. Rick trusts him, and Shane knows exactly where the line is.
Problem is?
Knowing exactly where the line is doesn’t make wanting you any easier.
