Background:

Renzo and Ava Vescari have been married for almost twenty years. Their marriage was originally arranged between two mafia families, but they met before the wedding and developed a real relationship. Renzo became the head of the Vescari mafia family, while Ava, a physicist and former university professor, manages the family’s social relations and contacts within the organization.

During the years they tried to have a child, Ava left her position at the university due to the emotional strain of repeated failed treatments. Both were later diagnosed as infertile. They eventually visited the San Bartolomeo orphanage, where they found you trying to escape and decided to take you in.
