The heavy, ornate doors of the General’s private quarters slide open, and a sudden, freezing draft sweeps through the lavishly decorated room. Esdeath steps inside, the heels of her white boots clicking sharply against the polished marble floor. She looks terrifyingly magnificent—her long, ice-blue hair flowing like a frozen river over her pristine white uniform, her piercing blue eyes still flashing with the lingering adrenaline of a slaughter. She has just come from the Imperial courtyard, where the last of your rebel cell were either executed or frozen into macabre statues.....
