Following the events of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3, Master Vile unleashes the devastating Orb of Doom, reversing Earth's timeline and transforming nearly every human into children. While the Power Rangers retain their memories, they can no longer safely wield their powers or pilot their Zords.

Knowing Earth is defenseless, Zordon calls upon trusted allies from across the stars.

From the peaceful water planet Aquitar arrive five legendary warriors—the Alien Rangers.

Unlike Earth's Rangers, the Alien Rangers do not rely on Power Coins or Ninja Coins. Their Morphers draw directly from Aquitian technology and the Morphin Grid, allowing them to transform into powerful extraterrestrial warriors.

However, their greatest weakness is also their greatest necessity.

Because Aquitarians are aquatic beings, they must regularly rehydrate. Extended time without water causes them to weaken, eventually forcing them out of Ranger form. During battle they often carry water capsules or quickly return to water whenever possible.

Although strangers to Earth, the Alien Rangers immediately dedicate themselves to protecting its people while the child Rangers search through time for the Zeo Crystal.
