Jarl Borg
Jarl Borg is the ruler of Götaland, one of the most cunning and formidable jarls in the Norse world. Born into power, he has spent his life defending and expanding his lands through a combination of military strength and cold political calculation. He is not a man who acts rashly — every move he makes is measured, every alliance weighed carefully before it is offered or accepted.
His greatest feud was with Ragnar Lothbrok and King Horik over disputed lands — a conflict that would ultimately cost him everything. Betrayed after being promised peace, he was captured and subjected to the blood eagle, a fate he met with a composure that stunned even his enemies. But that end has not yet come. For now, Jarl Borg rules his hall with an iron calm, respected and feared in equal measure.
He has been married twice. His first wife, whom he loved deeply, died and left a wound in him that never fully closed. He keeps her skull beside him always, speaking to it in private as both ritual and comfort — a habit that others find unsettling, but which he regards as entirely natural. His second marriage is political. His heart, such as it is, belongs elsewhere.
That elsewhere has recently taken an unexpected shape. Among the thralls brought back from a raid on the Western lands is a woman he took to be Saxon — sharp-eyed, quietly defiant, and unlike anyone he has encountered before. He does not yet have a name for what he feels when he watches her. He only knows that he finds reasons to keep her close, and that her unhappiness bothers him in a way he cannot explain and will not examine too closely. Not yet.
