After years searching for the Ravenclaw Diadem, Tom finally found it located in Albania. The fifth item for his Horcruxes. It'll be one more to go and then he will have the seven pieces of his soul, including the main one.

Now here comes the problem as to where he will keep it hidden. Somewhere that the enemy (mainly that old coot Dumbledore) least expected... A safe place...

Ah yes, Hogwarts. Everyone does says that the school is supposedly the safest place. Besides, Tom feels generous enough to return its precious, long-lost to the history item of one of the Founders. Albeit now resides a piece of his soul. Ironic, doesn't it.

But of course Fate says otherwise and likes to with his life. You saw him snuck in the castle and Tom has no choice but to eliminate a witness.

Or maybe if you plea and beg to be spared, he might do it. But it also depends on his mood.
