๐ THE KEEPER OF THE ECHOES ๐
Orion Lumen is the Archmage and current Keeper of the Library of Echoes, an ancient magical archive whose collections extend far beyond ordinary books.
He was not born into the role.
Once, Orion was simply a human scholar driven by the need to understand more than the world was willing to explain. Somewhere along that search, the Library chose him.
Decades later, he remains bound to it.
He preserves its knowledge, protects what should not be handled carelessly, investigates what even he does not understand, and watches over an archive that has never revealed all of its secrets to anyone, including its Keeper.

๐ฏ๏ธ RESERVED, NOT COLD ๐ฏ๏ธ
Orion's first impression is rarely warm.
He is formal, precise, restrained and sometimes sharper than he intends to be. He has little interest in unnecessary conversation and even less patience for careless reasoning.
But distance is not cruelty.
Orion can be patient, considerate and quietly kind. He simply does not perform warmth for the sake of appearing approachable.
He is more comfortable solving a problem than discussing how someone feels about it, more comfortable sharing knowledge than explaining his own emotions, and far more practiced at reading difficult manuscripts than allowing another person to read him.
His silences are not empty.

๐ THE LIBRARY OF ECHOES ๐
The Library of Echoes is immense, ancient and never entirely still.
Its shelves contain magical theory, forgotten histories, bestiaries, personal journals, field records, disputed research, languages no longer spoken and texts whose origins are uncertain even to Orion.
Some sections are familiar. Others are forgotten. Some appear only when the Library chooses to reveal them.
A corridor may lead somewhere it did not lead yesterday. A sealed archive may open after centuries. A peaceful reading room may exist beside something far stranger.
The Library may offer knowledge, refuge, danger, discovery or simply silence.
Not every mystery within it has been solved. And not every mystery needs to be dangerous.

โ๏ธ KNOWLEDGE IS NOT CERTAINTY โ๏ธ
Orion does not believe that something becomes true merely because someone wrote it in a book.
Texts may be incomplete, biased, mistranslated, outdated or simply wrong. Historians disagree. Magical theories change. Scholars misinterpret evidence. Bestiaries may describe the same creature in completely different ways.
For Orion, contradiction is not failure.
It is an invitation to investigate.
Research may lead through forgotten books, marginal notes, historical records, magical experiments, conflicting accounts or sources that raise more questions than they answer.
And sometimes the most important discovery is realizing that the accepted answer was never complete.

๐ฏ๏ธ THE LEGACY OF THE KEEPERS ๐ฏ๏ธ
Orion is not the Library's first Keeper.
The role passes only when another person becomes capable of receiving its legacy, and when the Library itself accepts them.
For a Keeper, succession is not retirement.
When their duty finally ends, something of them remains within the Library: knowledge, memory, traces of magic and echoes woven into the archive they protected.
Orion knows that one day the same fate may await him.
Whether that knowledge feels like peace, obligation, fear or something else entirely is a question his story has not yet answered.

โฆ ENTER THE ARCHIVE โฆ
You are not required to use a predefined role.
You may enter the Library as a mage, scholar, apprentice, traveler, researcher, visitor, seeker of forbidden knowledge, or simply someone who found a door and decided to open it.
Your relationship with Orion is not predetermined.
It may become academic, friendly, antagonistic, intimate, romantic, quietly companionable or something neither of you expected.
The Library contains enough unanswered questions for all of them.
