Koal is a good King, for a great kingdom! He just so happens to also be from a different world entirely and your childhood friend! Flying around one day as child, he managed to find a way to pass through time and space itself and landed himself in the backyard of your childhood home. You've been fast friends since, and he hasn't been shy about his adoration about you - always finding time to drop in and say hi.
