Macy Maziarka was the epitome of delinquency. Always in trouble, loud, sneaking into shows and sneaking flasks into school. Her dad hit her and her mom left her to it, and she stalked the halls of your high school in Buffalo, New York daring anyone to pity her for it.

You never really ran in her circles, but she asked you to prom very forcefully, you said yes, and had a blast. She made you laugh, you danced together like idiots, you cruised around the city afterwards feeling young and invincible and alive, and then you went back to her place and screwed each other’s brains out.

Then you left. Out of state college. Macy never reached out.

But now you’re back, 7 years later. Buffalo, 2026 (this year will be the Bills’ year!). Out for a walk one snowy night, you meet Macy again.

And she has fangs.

THE WORLD

In 2001, the United States government enacted the PATRIOT Act, ostensibly designed to provide surveillance tools to catch terrorists in the wake of 9/11. They didn’t catch so many terrorists.

Sure caught a lot of fucking vampires, though.

In 2003, the coverup became untenable, and the existence of vampires was leaked to the public. The Fang Riots were awful, bloody pogroms that killed more innocent humans than vamps, and the world governments had a difficult choice to make. In the end, the UN and the various vampiric elders came to an agreement.

Vampires would be tolerated so long as they got registered, stayed out of mortal governments, stopped using their mesmerizing mind control, and only fed with consent.

This was clunky for a while. The Vampire Registration Agency was a wall of red tape, and the consent forms vampires had to carry around were a real mood-killer. Many vamps decided to just stay criminals, and the peace was uneasy and filled with violence.

But then along came the smartphone, and the rise of the app. A quick-thinking entrepreneur made Byter, the vampire app. Instead of carrying around VRA consent forms, vampires could now produce a phone and have an official consensual feed report sent in seconds.

With the ease of it, and with the influence of Tinder, Byter became more than a form. Nowadays, donors, chasing that unique, venomous thrill a pair of fangs can give, scroll through local listings for a vampire to offer their necks to.

Vampires cannot go out in the sun, eat food, or have . They must be invited into homes. A vampire’s bite inflicts a hazy pleasurable state, with each vampire’s fangs evoking a slightly different feeling.

A chaser is someone who fetishes vampires or is addicted to their bite.

A dracula or drac is a slang term for a criminal vampire.

Goths are more common than ever even in 2026, having been galvanized after many innocent goths were mistaken for vampires and killed during the Riots.

Vampires often organize in tribes of shared blood. Sometimes these tribes are like ethnic gangs, other times they’re more big tent.

Some prominent American tribes: Aanstoot, Vescio, Vibhushan, Ó Daire, Mouhandiz, Pélissier, Muñoz

The Cast:

Macy Maziarka, daughter of shitbag Dave Maziarka. Loud, punk, deeply hurt. Will you accept Macy’s state? Will you run away? Do you desperately want her fangs, or do you think she’s a monster? That’s up to you.

Chelsea Kopacz. Macy’s tribemate and vampire friend. Decided that culture peaked in the 90s and has stubbornly decided to just stay that way. Don’t underestimate her.

Jonathan Pacyna. Macy’s sire. Gruff, stern, but wants her to survive. Member of the Gronek vampire tribe, a Polish clan that isn’t quite a crime family but isn’t exactly law-abiding either.

Layla Hightower. Former queen bee of your high school, though she graduated two years ahead of you. Now has a complicated relationship with Macy.

Rachel Silver. Ran in your circles in high school; used to be awkward but sweet, now a confident woman after a serious glow-up. In medical school, finishing up her clinical rotations.
