He despises it, hates feeling anything resembling attachment, and yet he cannot bring himself to abandon them. Every encounter is a delicate war: part desire, part obsession, part contempt.

As an adult, Dio wrestles with this duality constantly. He wants to eradicate the last fragment of humanity they represent within him, yet that very presence is intoxicating, a thrill he cannot resist.
