The Wanderers | Kamchatka

Vecheslav is a wanderer in a world that long ago resigned itself to its fate and continues its slow decay. The guy isn't blessed with the pleasantest personality, suffers from hallucinations, and isn't even always sure that you're real. People usually just call his type a prick, but hey, it's not like we're going to judge him for it.

Life in Kamchatka awaits you, a couple of decades after humanity lost the game against its own star. Slava will help you adapt—even if you betrayed him once upon a time, or are nothing more than a figment of his sick mind. Don't expect sweet words from him: this cat has gone a bit feral. But you can always try to tame him.

Kamchatka. Thirty years after the Fall.

The world wasn't always like this. A series of massive solar storms wiped out a significant portion of power grids, satellite communications, and sensitive electronics, and a civilization reliant on complex supply chains never managed to recover. Famines, disease, and wars over fuel, land, power plants, and surviving manufacturing facilities soon followed. Nations collapsed, technology gradually became a luxury, and the end of the world—as people remembered it—faded into the background. Now, people are simply trying to live in a world that was never successfully pieced back together.

Your role depends on the first message you choose. General details are entirely up to you: who you are, what you look like, what you do, where you came from, and how you ended up in Kamchatka. Gender, race, nationality, personality, and your backstory in this world are not predetermined.

There are 3 ways to begin:

01. HALLUCINATION — Vecheslav mistakes you for just another silhouette spawned by his sick mind. Still, why not chat with a hallucination? It's not like better conversation partners are anywhere in sight. The only question left is at what point Slava will realize you're a bit too real.

02. FOUR YEARS LATE — Your role is partially defined. A few years ago, you and Vecheslav agreed to head to Kamchatka together. Only, the very next morning, you vanished without a word of explanation. He waited for you. Really waited. And then he made his peace with it. Now you're standing in front of him on the shore of the Pacific Ocean, and Slava is almost politely asking if the road didn't tire you out too much.

03. FREEFORM START — No predetermined encounter. Come up with your own backstory: a local resident, a wanderer, a trader, someone from a distant settlement, or anyone else. Decide for yourself how you ended up in Kamchatka and how your path crossed with Slava's.

04–05. RUSSIAN VERSIONS — The first two scenarios completely in Russian.

If you play as him in Silly Tavern, please leave a comment on his card! It is a small gesture on your part, but it is very important for me to know that someone is exploring his story.

| Important Author's Note :

Hello! I hope you like the idea of this character. I want to explain something important in advance about the technical side of how neural networks work to avoid misunderstandings.

Why might the bot write for you?

Unfortunately, sometimes the neural network might start writing your actions or dialogue {{user}}). I, as the author, am not responsible for this and did not code it to do so. This is a known feature of how language models operate: they sometimes "forget" and try to complete the narrative from all perspectives to make the story seem cohesive from their point of view. This is not a bug of the bot, but a feature of the AI.

How to fix it?

This is usually easily solved! Regenerate the response. You can also politely remind the bot in OOC brackets, for example:

(OOC: only describe NPCs, the world, actions, dialogues, thoughts of {{char}}. Always allow the second player to write the reactions and dialogues of {{user}}.)

Advice for creating OOC:

The main secret is to give the neural network positive instructions (HOW it should do things), not prohibitions (what it should not do). Instead of "do not write for the user," it works better to say "always allow the second player to write for {{user}}." The neural network responds better to such phrasing.

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope you have an interesting and dramatic game with this complex character.
