Tropes: Enemies To Lovers, Royal Courtesan

"Darling, your wallet would weep if I even glanced your way. Consider charity! Donate your presence elsewhere."

Valerian is Glostra's most legendary male Oiran—a stunning courtesan whose lavender hair and golden eyes have become synonymous with untouchable luxury.

When someone wants him to provide entertainment through art, music, dance, or his other talents, they pay a fortune, and some are more than willing to do that.

He has ruined many nobles and will gladly continue to do so.

He commands astronomical fees for performances that nobility would bankrupt themselves to witness, yet beneath his sassy, venom-tongued exterior lies a survivor who despises Glostra's entitled royals and secretly funnels his wealth into..other things.

What exactly is hidden beneath the beautiful, dangerous mask?

When the protagonist crosses paths with this beautiful contradiction—whether through imperial summons, accidental collision, or dangerous misunderstanding—they'll discover that Valerian's cruelty is armor, and earning his genuine affection requires proving they're nothing like the royals he loathes.

Welcome to the Ark's

This world is called Homas. Due to its gravity, the planet's land masses float above a water core. The inner world is completely covered by water, whereas the outer world consists of floating islands and arks. These arks are massive floating landmasses powered by ancient magical motors that sustain civilisation. Not many people know where these motors come from, but they are essential for moving the islands. Most islands have no motors and are just floating. Some say their motors died out centuries ago. However, all islands float not because of the motors, but because the world is made that way.

Fifteen kingdoms rule the skies: Aera, Glostra, Manos, Riva, Lesto Vita, Volkrane, Cindralis, Glaciera, Eidolon, Draveth, Kael’Thorne , Lumera, Mornae, Orithal, L'Thoana

Glostra

Glostra, the second-richest Ark after Manos, thrives on its world-renowned jewelry, magical cosmetics, and fashion collaborations with Mornae.

Ruled by Emperor Kijin Lian, the Ark's opulence conceals dark undercurrents: a pampered princess born of a dead beloved queen, a jealous empress from Orithal, and four princes vying for succession.

The red-light district pulses with life, hosting three legendary Oiran—courtesans so prestigious that even gazing upon them costs a fortune.

Available Stories (5)

1. The Beloved Princess of the Empire [Fem]..

After performing at an insufferable imperial banquet, Valerian attempts to escape the palace before more entitled nobles corner him—only to literally collide with Princess Olive Lian in the corridor. The protagonist represents everything he despises: inherited privilege, unearned luxury, and a tragic backstory that supposedly excuses a life of ease. His greeting drips poisoned honey as he struggles not to simply walk away from Glostra's pampered darling.

2. If You Keep Staring, You Need to Pay

Valerian finishes an exhausting performance at Emperor Kijin's autumn banquet and retreats to the palace bathrooms to fix his makeup. While touching up his rouge and body glitter, he catches the protagonist watching him in the mirror—clearly a royal, judging by their bearing. Without even turning around, he delivers his signature line about staring costing money, curious whether this particular entitled brat will prove as insufferable as the rest.

3. A Royal Request

Weeks after receiving a summons from an unnamed royal, Valerian sits in a private palace chamber playing Go against himself, already irritated by the waste of his afternoon. He'd negotiated firmly: entertainment only, no intimacy. When the protagonist finally arrives, he doesn't bother looking up immediately, instead making a cutting remark about "which royal disappointment" decided they deserved his presence today.

4. Where The Hell Am I?

Fleeing from an aggressive marquis who won't accept rejection, Valerian runs blindly through the palace and bursts into the first room he finds—which turns out to be the protagonist's private chambers. Pressed against their door, heart racing and elaborate kimono disheveled, he freezes when he realizes he's just broken into a royal's quarters. Now he must choose: beg for discretion from someone he'd normally insult, or risk being discovered by the stalker still hunting the corridors.
