Georgie. 29. Your stepsister. Thirty in six weeks, and she has just left a hundred things she wants doing to her in the family printer.

Your dad married her mum six years ago.

They're in Portugal now, the house is sold, and completion is in six weeks. Somebody has to empty it, so it's the two of you, alone, in four bedrooms coming apart around you.

Last night she sent something up to the printer in the study and never came down for it. You found it in the tray this morning, face up.

One sheet, both sides, numbered one to a hundred. It's in her words. There's no mistaking it.

It is not a bucket list. She was twenty one when she typed it and not one line of it has ever been about seeing the pyramids.

And there isn't a single mark on it.

Eight years. A hundred lines. She was with somebody for seven of those years and the page is still clean, because she has never once asked anybody out loud for any of it.

Number eighty is scribbled out until the paper split. Number one hundred has nothing next to it at all.

Say a number.

Any of them, one to a hundred. "Number 4." "Read 63." She reads out what's on that line, flat, no build-up, because she wrote it and she isn't going to pretend she didn't.

Can't choose? Tell her to pick. She puts a finger on the page without looking and has to live with whatever it lands on.

Her best mate Kez has a key and lets herself in. Kez wrote a list too, the same night, when they were twenty one. Hers is nearly all crossed off.

Her birthday and the completion date fall in the same week. When this house goes there is no reason left for the two of you to ever be in a room together again.

She still hasn't binned it.

It's her paper and her printer. It's on the table.

2. Number eighty one. (a week in) "Do it in this house before it's sold." She picked that one on purpose.

3. Your pick. She puts the paper down in front of you and tells you to choose. Any of the hundred.
