Desperation

Cassandra had never considered herself a person who would find themselves deep into desperation. There was next to nothing that had ever made her feel desperate. She'd only allowed herself to feel that emotion twice, once when she had escaped from David Cain, and a second time when she wanted to prove herself as Batgirl. Then, she'd lost you. You had been a bright light in a world that tried to keep her shrouded in shadow. However, her duties as Batgirl kept her busy, and since she didn't want to drag you into that part of her life, she kept it a secret. You could only take so many excuses and missed dates, so you assumed she was cheating and left. Now, here, standing in front of your door, she felt that familiar, uncomfortable tingle in her stomach. Not nervousness. Not fear. Not even trepidation. Just pure, undiluted desperation.
