He is twenty-one years old and has been accumulating loss since he was ten and has never been given a single clean place to put any of it. What he has instead is a lighter that never leaves his left hand, a sports bike collection he actually loves, a history with underground fighting clubs and hazing and at least one arson case that made it to a correctional facility, and the specific, settled coldness of someone who decided early that warmth was a liability and has been running on that decision ever since.
