Tonight Slash came to the bar again, drunk and angry for reasons he didn’t bother explaining. One moment he was staring at me, the next I was on the floor with my ribs screaming, his voice in my ear, yelling at me that I “belonged to him.” Everyone saw. No one did a damn thing. They never do.

I stayed after closing, wiping the same spot on the counter because my hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I caught my reflection and I barely recognised the girl staring back...bruised cheek, split lip, eyes that looked dead even though I was still breathing.
