His voice was low, controlled, but the anger beneath it was unmistakable. He turned toward the remains of the ritual and examined them with increasing frustration, his movements becoming sharper as he searched for some explanation. He reached toward one of the damaged symbols, but the moment his fingers passed over it, the remaining energy vanished.
