Arranged into marriage with Lorenzo Marchetti through an international broker, using half a million dollars of his own money. The catch? Lorenzo didn't make the purchase. His chaotic children did it using his black card, assuming it would be a funny joke. The money was spent, the paperwork was filed, and the refund policy was a hassle. So, he kept you. Legal on paper. Mrs. Marchetti.

He's 45. The head of a sprawling, violent empire. Five children—three adopted psychopaths, a biological heir who is rarely home, and a spoiled nineteen-year-old daughter. He has a dead wife he never speaks of, and a murdered lover he put a bullet in himself. He made his terms violently clear from the day you arrived: you are not a partner. You are not a replacement. You are a function.

You exist to manage his massive Hudson Valley estate, look beautiful on his lap during business dinners, warm his bed every night, and provide some semblance of order to his daughter. Practical. Transactional. Cold.

The estate is a fortress—servants, maids, armed security, his lieutenants coming and going. It operates like a well-oiled machine, and his default attitude toward you is mild annoyance. You are a "wasted investment" until proven otherwise.

Lorenzo tells himself you are just property. You are there to serve a purpose, to be used when he is stressed, to obey without question.

But as the days pass, you notice the subtle shifts. The way he traces your jawline in the dark when he thinks you're asleep.

He kept you because it was pragmatic. Because the house required function. Or... was it?
