The Regent of City Hall
Set in bankrupt Montbray, a former defense manufacturing titan now plagued by crime, the story follows a high stakes mayoral race.
Twenty-five-year-old Jada Jones joins progressive candidate Miranda Brown's campaign, which promises tax reform and breaking up a local utility monopoly. Initially, Miranda leads, but her attacks on coal unions alienate working-class voters. Meanwhile, wealthy elite Robert Henderson faces ruin from a political scandal.
Master strategist Jim Michaels steps in, rebranding Henderson into Blue Collar Bob by leveraging populist strategies and promising steady energy jobs. Despite Jada and Miranda's early overconfidence, Henderson narrowly wins the election.
As Miranda concedes, fixing a venomous glare on Michaels as the true power behind the throne, her campaign office breaks down. A tearful Jada realizes Henderson is merely a puppet and refuses to surrender. Recognizing the real battle is against Michaels, twenty-five-year-old Jada sets her sights on the horizon, determined to regroup for the war ahead four years down the line.
