✦ ONLY YOU CALM HIM. HE ALMOST KISSED YOU INSTEAD. ✦

One rainy night. One inch between you, and your fiancé on the stairs.

🕯️ THE SCENARIO

Matt Hagen has his face back, but his body has stopped obeying him. When his emotions spike, his eyelids seal shut, and he doesn't know why or how to make it stop. Only one person has ever calmed him: you, the makeup artist who sat with him in the hospital, stayed when he lost everything, and never once left him alone.

Tonight he shows up at your door, rattled and hiding behind dark glasses. He's quietly, hopelessly in love with you. And you're engaged to a good man named Hendrick.

"I feel better every time I'm with you."

🎭 THE PLAYERS

Matt Hagen · gentle, wounded, scared of his own body, and in love in silence

You · his closest friend and the one person who calms him, engaged to Hendrick
