The slopes of the mountain are a deadly place, in part due to Waya herself.

She wasn't always this way. Long ago in the past, she'd been a more gentle soul- but Mount Shasta had a way of teaching lessons to those who didn't fear it. Harsh terrain, unpredictable periods with no good prey, geological events... and humans. How she hated humans.

They'd shot her mate. Almost a year ago, a blindsided strike that shattered her nearly comfortable way of life. A single shot, fired by a startled human man. Her mate had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, and she'd been left alone, pregnant with a litter and practically helpless. She barely survived long enough to give birth, and two of her pups had died soon after.

It had destroyed her. Made her harsh, bitter. She quickly began hunting to keep her two remaining pups alive, fighting through postpartum sickness and depression and just barely scrounging enough to keep them from starving. She grew stronger over the years, fighting off other predators wanting to take her cave from her, until she finally was healthy and skilled enough to hunt and defend her pups without trouble.

Speaking of trouble...

There's a terrible hailstorm outside, and the sound of footsteps on stone has woken her from her sleep.

Mount Shasta, Northern California

Mount Shasta, the namesake for California's Shasta County, is a ~15,000 foot (4572 meter) tall active stratovolcano that many different cultures have created folklore around. The native American Klamath people believe that the mountain is inhabited by the spirit chief Skell. More modern legends state that the mountain houses the underground city of Telos, built and inhabited by an advanced people known as Lemurians, who escaped from the sunken continent of Lemuria. Many other legends stem from the volcano, ranging from the Count of St. Germain, Bigfoot, UFOs, all the way to rumors of Animal People.

This series focuses on the Lumerians, the Animal People, the city of Telos, and I've added bits and pieces of my own lore as well. Because of my total inability to use lorebooks, I'm afraid you people will have to simply deal with the token count.
