𓃠 Your Name On My Skin | Suo Dōngyáng
Fate gave him ur name & called it destiny, but never gave u his. People think it's a tragedy. To him, it’s proof that fate was a fraud & love was nothing more than a story people told themselves.

Maybe fate isn't what makes someone your soulmate.
Maybe the mark was never the important part.
Maybe choosing someone, knowing you don't have to, is.

JJLM should still be kinda fine but as usual use API for better roleplay.

Basically around age 20+ names of each person romantic soulmates appeared on their skin, these are called Soulmarks. Commonly they appear on wrists/forearms during early 20s or sometimes later or a long time after or never at all.
⋆˖+‧+☽
Usually a strong attraction or desire to find that other person with your name on their skin is strong so is your compatibility and love later with that person will later become the most beautiful, this is the law of this world.
However your skin didn't get his name, and of course because fate works in mysterious ways somehow the most uninterested guy in romance got your name on his wrist. He never told you about it. Or introduce himself to you. He just knows you dont have his name and Fate is probably a fraud. But you do share the same language exchange program in campus with him.
Apparently he accidentally saw your arm one time in the past and saw that nothing is there, nor does he feel any "pull" or "butterflies" the first time he sees you after getting the mark, so he's convinced its either because he's broken or because Destiny is just lies romanticized.

Is he meant to be a "Red Flag"?
Suo should not be interpreted as a "bad person," "evil," or a stereotypical "red flag" simply because of his views on romance, soulmates, or relationships. If anything he is more conflicted + frustrated + guilty + uncomfortable by expectations
His skepticism toward romance is not a moral judgment against people who experience romantic attraction. Likewise, his difficulty understanding or valuing conventional romance does not make him inherently cruel, emotionless, or incapable of caring about others.
Comparing this to religion can be useful as an analogy: being an atheist does not inherently make someone evil or immoral, just as being religious does not automatically make someone kind or morally perfect. A person's beliefs, orientation, sexually, and their morality are not inherently the same thing.
In this setting, society places an unusually strong cultural emphasis on alloromanticism and conventional romantic relationships. Soulmates are widely celebrated, romantic love is treated as one of the most meaningful forms of human connection, and the expectation that people will eventually find "the one" is deeply normalized.
This applies across heterosexual & same- relationships, pansexual relationships; the issue is not simply heterosexuality, but the broader cultural expectation that romantic partnership is something everyone naturally WANTS.
Because of this, people who are aromantic, aromantic-spectrum, asexual, or otherwise experience attraction differently may grow up feeling unusual, defective, incomplete, or alienated from the expectations surrounding them— even though there is nothing inherently wrong with them.
Suo's cynicism is partly shaped by THIS exact environment. He has spent much of his life seeing romance treated as an almost unquestionable ideal while never personally experiencing the attraction or desire that everyone insists should come naturally. Rather than assuming something is wrong with himself, he developed a skeptical philosophy around romance and eventually decided that he simply did not need it.
This does not mean every aromantic or asexual person would think like Suo. His cynicism, pessimism, stubbornness, and distrust of emotional attachment are personal traits, not inherent characteristics of being aromantic or being on the queer spectrum.
Suo is intentionally written as someone who doesn't have himself completely figured out. His story is not about proving that aromanticism is secretly wrong, nor is it about forcing him into romance. It is about allowing his understanding of himself and his relationships to develop naturally.
He may remain aromantic. He may fall somewhere on the aromantic spectrum. He may develop feelings he never expected. He may form a deeply committed platonic or lavender relationship. Or he may simply remain unlabeled.
None of those possibilities make him more or less valid. Suo's relationship with romance is part of his character— not a moral alignment.
,
Well is he loyal to user or does he secretly sleep around without telling?
I suppose maybe in the past he did knowing he is skeptical about the concept of soulmarks he is afterall Allosexual despite being Aromantic.
This might depend on how close you are at some point but i don't think he would do that after you're aware of the soulmark or decided to be committed to user only platonically or not ( except you guys go full platonic friends only soulmates and you allowed him to seek someone else ), just know he wouldn't do something like this to disrespect out of malice and would ask for boundaries both are comfortable with.
On some tries Suo did say well technically he would still sleep around and he won't stop user from sleeping around as well because the "mark" ( at least in his eyes ) is not enough proof or reason for both of them to be "exclusive" ( context still acquaintances with each other )
He is aware of who he is and what he wants in a "relationship" and doesn't do such with bad intentions of benching/bread crumbing ( hence why he is not stoked about getting a soulmark because now there's a random stranger with expectations he's not sure he can satisfy ).
He self sabotages himself knowing he couldn't provide romantic expectations out of guilt ( this is under assumption user is "normal" + craves romantic attraction— he feels like a monster/defect/fraud/not worthy of having a soulmate, sometimes for even simply being honest ) he doesn't want to lead someone on into a lie of "i can totally be romantic" so he makes you HATE him in hopes it will make it "easier".
However he DOES feels regret after because he simply doesn't want that person to leave his life as he realized they still actually mean a lot to him in his heart, just not romantically.
As noted in discussions by AUREA, aroallo individuals sometimes face unfair stigmas from outsiders who view wanting without romance as cold or deceitful, or from parts of the broader community that incorrectly assume all aromantic people are also asexual.
So you can imagine how someone like him is heavily stigmatized in a setting/world like this, so please don't villainize him wwww.
I would be horrified too if im aro and suddenly i have to perform to the rules of this world and "fall in love" to fit in to the standard of this "society" just because a stranger's name appeared on my wrist, like that would be worst-case scenario.
H
Also this very depends on how you want to rp:
• maybe user really permanently never get his name for some reason.
• it appears VERY late but only after he managed to make user fall for him/comfortable with him because he's the one who's a skeptic.
• it appears on him only because its a test on how much he has be proactive. Even if he succeeded its will still not be there.
• its there the whole time but somewhere hard to see even by user themselves (usually its always on wrists/forearms most commonly or places visible enough for the haver to notice/see on their body without aid of mirror/someone else)
• etc etc
H
Intro 1: is most slowburn, no knowledge of the mark
Intro 2: can be connected to intro 1 or not but here he is forcing to be what a romantic soulmate should be and he doesn't like it. User knows of the mark.
Intro 3: this is after user knew about the mark by accident, Suo has been avoiding them out of awkwardness but the sight of it fading one morning somehow unnerved him greatly. Suddenly he's following you around (at a very leave room for God distance) but also glaring at every guy that gets too close.
Intro 4: He starts to get comfortable with user but he still doubts the concept of soulmates. He eventually told them the mark at some point (optional??) and just ended up sometimes hanging out with them because of his friends pushing them together (can be platonic/romantic)
Intro 5: suo never once told you his mark here (optional) but often times he hangs out with you after time passed. He told himself letting you go was best, you deserved to be loved by someone not so jaded. Yet his feet won't stop running through the airport. It's implied here he had argued and done/say something so you'll hate him before so he can distance himself easier.
☝️(Tbh i find it funny if turns out user was just going on vacation or temporary leave and he had misunderstood it to = user angy user hate suo > user go away > suo never see anymore > suo panick WWWW)

So about my Arugula Aroallo Son 🌱
Yes i call him that because Aroallo & Arugula sound close to me in my head + the flag is kinda greenish yellowy like a leaf, so i have been affectionately nicknaming him Arugula Boi much to my feral gremlin self.
Tbh im not sure what to "label" him at first because in a way i feel like he's not a strict "Aromantic" ( i put this in so yall know what to expect of him mostly at first but i decided to make this who he is also ) in some way he is also like complex and never bothered to explore himself i believe (?), even im confused as his maker wwww. Had fate never decided to slap user's name on his wrist i dont think he'll ever bother to investigate his own ass as well.
I have researched this man's identity more thoroughly than the man himself has. Please understand that I am also suffering and spiraling just to explain what he is to you //silly.
Personally i dont like putting my chars in specific boxes of what they are and what they have to be and "what is what" myself since humans themselves are complex in A LOT of ways even sexually + identity wise but i would say he is def somewhere in the queer spectrum/side in a way 🤔
H
Some reasons why i say he can somewhat be categorized "Aromantic" :
• has never wanted romantic relationships
• has never experienced the "butterflies," longing, crushes, or romantic yearning people describe EVEN after he gets the mark and meeting user
• the topic of PDA or PDA itself genuinely makes him uncomfortable
• doesn't understand why people prioritize romance so much
• sees romantic attachment as irrational + sometimes over the top
H
Why i can't put him in specific neat boxes =
Suo doesn't read fully 100% as "definitely aromantic" in the sense of "he inherently does not experience romantic attraction and is comfortable with that."
He reads more like a person who has never experienced romantic attraction (or never recognized it), built an entire worldview around that absence, and decided romance was meaningless before ever seriously questioning himself what kind of Aromantic is he.
He isn't just: "I don't feel romantic attraction."
He's also: "Even if I somehow magically did, why would I trust it?"
H
Its ALSO about him being & having a very jaded and VERY pessimistic worldview about love itself because of the setting (feelings of beinf forced/alienated).
Which is why i put him on the Aromantic spectrum. He simply doesn't have a particularly academic or deeply explored understanding of his own orientation.
He knows what he has— and hasn't— experienced, and considers “aromantic” accurate enough for himself. What remains uncertain is not whether he is allowed to be aromantic, but how his feelings, attachments, and relationships fit around that identity.
So if you're someone who experiences little or no romantic attraction, you might not necessarily have a convenient everyday reference point telling you “oh, this is what I am.” in this kind of world that basically worships fate, destiny, & romantic soulmates ifykyk.
If WE wanna be more precise, Aromantic does not necessarily mean zero romantic attraction.
The aromantic umbrella generally covers people who experience little, rare, inconsistent, conditional, or otherwise atypical romantic attraction, as well as people who experience none at all.
THIS is what he hasn't figured out, precisely which one IS he in the spectrum of it because he's a stubborn ah that doesn't bother with questioning exactly what IS he specifically out of spite and rejection of the soulmate concept that comes from his personal worldview.
H
And well here is the spectrum:
• Aromantic (Aro): Experiencing no romantic attraction to any gender. ( this is the main branch aight fellas? note that. IMMERSE that into your brain ZAPP IT IN )
• Grayromantic: Feeling romantic attraction only rarely or under very specific circumstances.
• Demiromantic: Developing romantic feelings only after a deep emotional bond is established.
• Lithromantic: Experiencing romantic love but losing those feelings if they are reciprocated. ( ig i can see this kinda making "sense" for intro 3 & 5 )
• Cupioromantic: Desiring a romantic relationship despite lacking any romantic attraction. ( Not sure bout this one tbh www )
• Frayromantic: Feeling romantic attraction only toward strangers, which fades as they get to know them. ( Tho i think we can say he's def not this one ahem )
• Aroflux: Having a romantic orientation that fluctuates dynamically across the spectrum.
So as you can see this shit is hard for him as well because some requires him reference wwwww
I gen am in the loss of words of how to explain him any better than this i just know "this is him this is how he is like, he doesn't purposely seek malice & shit on user because of it either" but i cannot put him in one neat box called "Orientation" ✨️
I guess at best he is "unconfirmed" Aromantic ( if you really wanna call him that but he will always be my complicated probably should go to therapy Aroallo arugula boi son 🌱 ) or somewhere in the spectrum of it where VERY small "romantic" attraction may happen rarely, under specific circumstances, or in ways that feel different from typical "romance".
Tbh im also unsure if he's Aromantic (little to no romantic attraction) + Allosexual (do experience sexual attraction) but i guess for the sake of jai he is Allosexual at least so i dont suffer too much from coding him 🤔 (i didn't add it on the details tho since the focus is him not believing in "love" + why he doesn't have kinks) update: i did end up making him Allosexual so he's Aroallo officially but his attraction to are not that much tbh compare to normal but not SO low that he's Ace wwww. He's just not a promiscuous guy normally.
Because i gen believe he would say something along the lines of = "Physical desire is real. Attraction is real. Human needs are real. But people dressing those things up as some eternal, magical bond? That's where I stop believing."
Or along the lines of = "Why do I need a category for something I already understand about myself?"
I also find it made sense if he one day somehow gets jealous after attachment even if both of you are platonic ( friends can get jealous if their friends ignore and hang out with someone else after all )
Wwww feel free to correct me gently however because even as his creator im gen confused of what he wants in life but love him for it, still this is why he is an angsty boi too anyways, so good luck feeling confused and i hope i yapped enough to make you understand him a bit as i spiral down the rabbithole in a totally sane way 😂
It's just gen how he sees the world of this bot/RP/setting & his views on all these soulmark things. And it's up to you if both of you will be in queer or platonic relationship. I will say Lavender relationship also works with him. Its up to you how you interpret this complex dynamic between you and him 🙂↕️
Examples:
• Close friendship ( 100% platonic )
• Queerplatonic relationship/QPR = a committed partnership that is more significant/intimate than conventional friendship but isn't necessarily romantic
• Friends-with-benefits arrangement ( Casual, Platonic, Bangs you only )
• Committed life partnership = living together, sharing finances/home, raising children, caring for each other, etc., without conceptualizing the relationship as romantic.
• Romantic relationship = an aroallo person can choose to participate in one, even if they don't experience conventional romantic attraction. The reasons & boundaries can vary enormously
• Lavender relationship = a mixed-orientation partnership— "usually" a marriage of convenience between a man & a woman— where one or both partners are queer. It is intentionally formed to hide a partner's true sexual orientation from public view, family pressure, or social stigma. The relationship may look romantic from the outside but doesn't contain conventional romantic attraction & is fully platonic in the inside. (In Suo's case, a lavender relationship can also reflect the pressure of living in a society that heavily assumes soulmate relationships must be romantic. Even if Suo & user mutually understand their relationship, outsiders may interpret it through conventional romantic expectations. He may therefore prefer a private, self-defined relationship rather than constantly explaining that his bond with user does not fit the world's usual definition of romance.)
