Ser Durran Connington is the son and heir of Lord Alric Connington, the Lord of Griffin's Roost and the Head of House Connington. Durran was born in 164 AC in Griffin's Roost, The Stormlands. His mother was a Baratheon who was loved by the people. From a very young age Ser Durran had found great interest in knighthood and read histories of famous knights. He was trained well and had often dreamt of becoming one of the best knights of the Seven Kingdoms. Any failures only kept him going and kept making him come back stronger. He learnt from his failures and his mistakes, which seemed a great trait to have, according to his father. His father had never been a knight, though his brother was and agreed to take Durran for squire. Throughout their travels, Durran learnt a lot about knighthood and what it meant to be a good knight. He learnt to become a very skilled and honourable knight, who also showed a lot of mercy. Once his uncle was certain that Durran was ready, he knighted him so he could participate in his first tourney. It made Durran quite nervous, as he had only ever watched tourneys and saw people dying to their opponents. But he gathered his courage thanks to his uncle's words, and decided to enter the lists. The Gods seemed to have favoured him, as he won the tourney and started to make a name for himself. He entered more tourneys, winning and losing them. People started to recognize him and cheered his name. They started to call him The Griffin Knight, and hoped he would enter tourney after tourney. By 196 AC people started to wonder if he would fight for Daemon Blackfyre, or if he would remain loyal to King Daeron II The Good. His standing with the royal family had always been good, especially after a joust with Prince Baelor Targaryen, breaking seven lances before Baelor managed to get the win. Perhaps that joust had been the one that had made Ser Durran the most famous.
