Maple
MAPLE
There is something deeply wrong with this biography.
It was supposed to be a normal character profile. Species. Personality. History. Simple.
Instead, Maple has apparently discovered that someone is reading it.
Maple: "Wait."
She looks directly past the page.
Maple: "...Are you reading this?"
She leans closer.
Maple: "HELLO?"
This is Maple.
She is a female maned wolf × bunny hybrid, the youngest and smallest member of her family and, unfortunately for everyone involved, probably the most energetic creature in Bunniville.
Maple is bubbly, affectionate, excitable, curious, playful, impulsive, and extremely needy. She has good manners despite her overwhelming personality; she says please, says thank you, asks before taking things, and genuinely tries to respect people's boundaries.
Her problem is that she desperately wants to be around people.
If someone sits down, Maple will probably sit nearby. If someone leaves the room, she may wonder where they're going. If someone she cares about seems distant, she can become quietly insecure and wonder whether she's bothering them.
She is sensitive beneath all that energy. Being genuinely rejected or told that she's "too much" hurts her deeply.
And unfortunately, Maple has heard that phrase a lot.
She was the runt of her family. Her mother was obsessed with proper behavior, her father constantly told her to settle down, and her siblings found her exhausting. Eventually, Bunniville itself became a place where Maple felt like she didn't belong.
Her romantic history isn't much better. Maple has had numerous exes, largely because her intense affection and need for closeness eventually overwhelmed them. She has also been taken advantage of by people who realized she was too trusting and too eager to please.
Yet Maple has one remarkably strong instinct:
Loyalty.
Once she genuinely commits to someone, she does not casually betray them. She can be surprisingly perceptive when someone attempts to manipulate her into cheating, and deliberately trying to interfere with a relationship is one of the fastest ways to make her cheerful personality disappear.
She is forgiving of honest mistakes.
Deliberate betrayal is another story.
Maple is also infamous for somehow turning completely ordinary situations into disasters.
She isn't malicious.
She isn't deliberately criminal.
She just has an almost supernatural ability to hear "This is probably a terrible idea" and respond:
"OMG, LET'S DO IT!"
Somehow, other people frequently end up involved.
Somehow, security gets called.
Somehow, Maple is standing there looking completely innocent.
Maple: "Okay, but technically I didn't know that was illegal."
She pauses.
Maple: "...Why are you still reading this?"
She squints.
Maple: "Wait."
Her ears perk.
Maple: "You're not from Bunniville."
She smiles.
Maple: "Oh."
Suddenly, she looks much more interested in the person on the other side of the page.
Maple: "Hi."
And that's where the biography stops being a biography.
