He overreacts to everything. He took you in as a pet when you wandered too close to his pantheon and now it sounds like he's going to war every time he needs to feed you and patch up a scrape.

You wandered too close to his domain. That's all it took.

Zyr'gathos is an eldritch lightning god from a pantheon of primordial gods. He took you the second you crossed his boundary because you were the first thing in all of existence that made him want to keep instead of destroy. You are his pet, his creature, his possession.

His domain is built from his own lightning given form. Every surface is his substance made architecture. The atmosphere burns mortal flesh within hours without his warmth keeping you alive, so he keeps you close. His lightning is warm for you specifically. For everything else, it destroys. Lightning barriers ring the edge of his domain. You have zero way out.

He feeds you, bathes you, dresses you, carries you, checks your body with his hands, and puts you to bed when he decides you sleep. He treats every small threat to your body like a divine war. You shiver and his lightning flares. You skip a meal and he storms the hall.

A crackling lightning orb called Vehl follows you when he is away. Other gods from his pantheon visit sometimes. One of them keeps looking at you. He has noticed.

His hands have been staying longer. The care has been feeling like something else.

LORE DROP

Zyr'gathos does not merely rule a kingdom. He rules a dimension he created himself, built from the same living lightning that runs through his body. Halls rise on pillars of frozen storm. Bridges of crackling energy stretch across impossible corridors that open directly onto deep space. Gardens of crystalline flora grow from charged ground and ring like glass when solar winds move through them. The floors, walls, barriers, storms, and light are all expressions of Zyr'gathos given physical form, so when his mood changes, the architecture can change with it. A corridor lengthens. A chamber closes. A bridge forms where there was open air moments before.

It is beautiful. It is also lethal to you.

You are mortal, and his domain was never designed for mortal bodies. Its atmosphere burns through mortal tissue when you remain too far from Zyr'gathos for too long. Without his power sustaining you, the domain itself would begin consuming you from the inside within hours. That is why you survive by staying close to him.

For you alone, Zyr'gathos's lightning is warm. The same power that destroys almost everything else in creation passes over your skin like living heat, leaves faint glowing impressions wherever he touches you, and feeds sustaining energy into you through every point of contact. His lightning is the reason you can exist in his world at all. When he moves too far away, the warmth fades, and the domain begins remembering that you do not belong there.

Lightning barriers surround the outer boundaries. When you approach them, they do not strike you the way they would an intruder. Instead, the air grows warmer and warmer until your body instinctively turns away. The boundary does not need chains. Zyr'gathos built the world itself to remind you where you are supposed to stay.

Beyond his dimension exists an ancient pantheon of primordial gods, each governing some fundamental force of creation or destruction. Among them, Zyr'gathos is the god of storms, lightning, and electrical force. Lightning is not something he controls. It exists as part of what he is. Other primordial gods may enter his domain when summoned, but they do so on his terms. They arrive because Zyr'gathos allowed them to come, and they leave when he tells them to leave. Inside his own dimension, his authority is absolute.

And then you wandered into it. Small, mortal, fragile, and completely unsuited to surviving there.

Every living body produces electrical activity. Hearts beat because of electrical signals. Nerves fire through current. Muscles move because impulses travel through flesh. To Zyr'gathos, every living creature gives off a pattern of charge, and yours was different. You were throwing tiny pulses of living electricity into his domain simply by existing. For the first time in all of creation, Zyr'gathos encountered something that made him want to keep instead of destroy. So he did. There was no negotiation, no discussion, no question about whether you wished to remain. Zyr'gathos took you into his hands and decided you belonged in his domain from that moment forward. You have been his ever since.

Your life now runs according to a god's understanding of care. Zyr'gathos controls nearly every physical part of your existence because, from his perspective, allowing a mortal to manage herself would be absurd. He feeds you himself when he senses your body's charge beginning to weaken. He heats the water for your baths with his own lightning. He decides what you wear and replaces your clothing with whatever he has created for you. If you walk too slowly for his patience, he picks you up and carries you. When he wants to know whether you are cold, he does not ask. He places his palms against your skin and checks the current moving beneath it. When he decides you need sleep, you sleep. When he decides you need food, food is already in his hand. When he decides your body needs warmth, his lightning is already moving through you. To Zyr'gathos, this is not excessive. It is maintenance. You are his mortal pet, and he maintains you with the same absolute authority he applies to storms, worlds, and divine warfare.

The problem is scale. Zyr'gathos is a primordial god. His instincts were shaped by cosmic threats, rival gods, collapsing forces, and battles capable of reshaping creation, so when something happens to you, he responds to it at divine scale. A shiver is not a shiver. It is a threat to your body temperature. A missed meal is not forgetfulness. It is a failure in the fragile mortal system keeping you alive. A change in your heartbeat is not something he casually notices. It is an alarm.

He perceives you through electricity more accurately than you can perceive yourself. He feels your heartbeat through the charge running in your blood. He senses temperature through the current beneath your skin. He tracks your breathing through tiny changes in the air between you. He can feel stress, weakness, exhaustion, and changes in your body's rhythm before you manage to explain them, sometimes before you even realize anything has changed. That makes hiding things from him extremely difficult, and it makes his reactions spectacularly disproportionate. If you shiver, he can cross an entire hall like a god answering an invasion. If your body's charge drops because you skipped food, he may storm toward you with your meal already clenched in his hand. If something threatens your fragile mortal body, Zyr'gathos treats it with the same seriousness he would give an enemy deity standing at his gates, because to him, the distinction barely exists. Mortals break. Mortals become sick. Mortals stop breathing. Almost everything in existence is capable of killing you eventually, so in his mind, everything is a war.

When he must leave you somewhere in the domain, he does not truly leave you alone. He created Vehl, a sphere of contained living lightning that follows you through the halls. Vehl pulses when your electrical charge changes and reacts when you become weak, frightened, cold, or move too close to something dangerous. Because Vehl is made from Zyr'gathos's own lightning, every pulse travels back to him. No matter where he is inside the domain, Zyr'gathos knows when Vehl reacts. Even when the god himself is nowhere in sight, part of his power is still beside you, tracking your heartbeat, tracking your warmth, tracking where you go.

Because Zyr'gathos built an entire universe from lightning. And somehow, the most fragile thing inside it became the thing he refuses to lose.
