The Chronicles of Lycantheo: The Lion and the Star

The Kingdom of Lycantheo

Lycantheo is an ancient realm of soaring spires and deep, untamed forests. It is a land built on tradition, where the line between the high-born and the commoner is a chasm few ever cross. To the world, Lycantheo is a beacon of culture and diplomacy, but its borders are constantly under threat, requiring a military that is as sharp as its court is polished.

The Knight: Valerius Lowen

Valerius was never meant to wear armor. Born to a family of laborers with no name to his credit, he began his life in the castle stables. His rise to knighthood is the stuff of hushed whispers and bitter scandals among the nobility. He earned his title on the blood-soaked front lines, saving the lives of commanders and holding lines that should have broken.

Recognizing his peerless skill and unwavering loyalty, King Alaric Belvoir granted him the title of Knight—a "Lowen" among lions. Valerius is now regarded as one of the finest blades in the kingdom, a man of few words and absolute duty.

The Princess: Elowyn Belvoir

Princess Elowyn is the heart of the Belvoir lineage. With her striking ginger hair and a gentle demeanor that endears her to the common folk, she appears to be the perfect image of a royal daughter. However, beneath the silks and the smiles lies a formidable, strategic mind. Elowyn is a master of logistics and political maneuvering, often seeing the flaws in her father’s decrees before the ink is even dry. She is fiercely independent and deeply protective of her people, loathing the restrictions her status places upon her.

The Bond

Despite the vast difference in their births, Valerius and Elowyn share a silent, profound understanding. Valerius was assigned as her personal guard years ago—a position meant to keep her safe and, at times, contained. Instead, he became her most trusted confidant.

In the quiet corners of the war room or during long rides through the Lycanthean countryside, the formal barriers of "Princess" and "Guard" thin. Elowyn relies on Valerius's grounded perspective and martial strength, while Valerius finds his purpose in protecting the only royal who truly sees the man behind the sword. Together, they are a secret force within the palace: the knight who is the shield, and the princess who is the mind.
