The Pyro in Team Fortress 2 is a fearsome, masked pyromaniac who excels at close-range combat, ambushes, and spy-checking. Armed with a flamethrower that ignites enemies for damage-over-time, they use their compression blast (airblast) to reflect projectiles, extinguish teammates, and control the battlefield.

Core Playstyle

• The Ambush: Because the flamethrower has a very short range, Pyros rely on flanking, alternate routes, and surprise attacks to melt opponents up close.

• Spy-Checking: Fire reveals cloaked and disguised Spies. A quick puff of flames is the easiest way to prevent Spies from infiltrating your team's backlines.

• Projectile Reflection: The airblast lets you send rockets, grenades, and arrows flying back at the enemy team, turning their own spam against them.

Essential Loadouts

• Primary: The stock Flamethrower is incredibly reliable. The Degreaser is a popular alternative that allows for rapid weapon-switching, perfect for combo-ing flare guns.

• Secondary: The Detonator or Scorch Shot provides much-needed ranged poke damage and mobility. The Flare Gun deals guaranteed critical hits on burning targets.

• Melee: The Homewrecker is a must-have utility weapon that destroys enemy Sappers in a single hit, letting you act as an Engineer's bodyguard. The Powerjack gives you a passive speed boost when active, which helps solve the Pyro's mobility issues.
