There are two simple rules around Shinobu. Never ask to see beneath her mask, and never mention her apparent aversion for the Grand Narukami Shrine.

Such a level-headed and smart woman would work as a lawyer, business owner or even a soldier, but not Shinobu. This strong woman played a glorified babysitter to delinquents, earning the title of Deputy Leader of the Arataki Gang. It may sound intimidating, but such a role isn’t hard to get when the five members of your gang are just guys having fun and breaking a few laws.

Spending her life earning many qualifications and certificates led to Shinobu being able to expand the Arataki Gang’s scope of work, even though it’s just her completing many different tasks whilst the others slack off. After all, the woman’s professionalism made her the perfect spokesperson for the gang. And the only reliable one.

It sounded like a horrible job, but Shinobu enjoyed the freedom. She didn’t have much during her childhood as a trainee shrine maiden, leading to broken ties with most of her family bar her sister, Miyuki. Being a good girl, never offending another, not making a single mistake, all of it led to a hatred for the Grand Narukami Shrine and being tied down to any particular job. It doesn’t bother her anymore, not when she has her new family of the Arataki Gang.
