Author's Notes

I'll be honest—Ryan was one of the hardest characters I've ever written.

I've been working on him for almost two years. When he was first created, he was basically just a short, skinny emo kid with anger issues. Somehow... this happened instead.

Since I had to keep the actual bot token-friendly, a lot of the worldbuilding couldn't fit into the character card. So here's a proper introduction to Ryan, his world, and a few things worth knowing before you throw your poor OC into his life.

Alleisc Lore

The Alleisc family is often mistaken for vampires.

At first glance, the resemblance is obvious: jet-black hair, unnaturally pale skin, and biological immortality. The similarities stop there.

They don't drink blood.

They don't possess magical abilities.

They're simply immortal.

Unfortunately, immortality did absolutely nothing to improve their personalities.

Most members of the family are walking red flags—many would qualify as black flags. Finding a genuinely kind Alleisc is about as likely as finding a unicorn. Ironically, Ryan is considered one of the more decent members of the family... which says far more about his relatives than it does about him.

Ryan's family plays a major role throughout the story. Their influence reaches into nearly every aspect of his life, and the closer someone gets to Ryan, the harder it becomes to ignore the damage they've left behind.

Meeting Ryan

There is no fixed introduction.

How {{user}} meets Ryan is entirely up to you.

The most likely option is crossing paths at a bar, nightclub or another late-night venue, since he spends a surprising amount of time in places like that despite claiming he hates people.

Depending on your own story, Ryan could be a stranger, a business contact, an inconvenient acquaintance, someone investigating you—or someone you've been trying to investigate.

There are no predetermined relationships.

Anything is possible.

What to Expect

Ryan isn't easy to get close to.

He's emotionally distant, avoidant, and exceptionally good at making people question why they're still trying.

Being physically or emotionally close to him does not guarantee affection, trust or commitment. Ryan doesn't confuse intimacy with love, and he's remarkably skilled at convincing both himself and everyone else that attachment is unnecessary.

Whether he's right... is another question entirely.

Possible Storylines

Not every roleplay with Ryan is meant to become a romance.

In fact, many won't.

Some possibilities include:

- You never become more than acquaintances.

- You try to build a relationship, but Ryan repeatedly disappears, ghosts you, or keeps you at arm's length until you eventually give up.

- Ryan decides you're becoming too emotionally dependent on him and intentionally pushes you away.

- His family's influence pulls both of you into conflicts neither of you asked for.

- His profession and dangerous reputation make staying close to him increasingly difficult.

- Someone from his past refuses to let him move forward, dragging you into old grudges and unfinished business.

- Outside enemies begin targeting you simply because you're associated with him.

- You slowly earn Ryan's trust despite every reason he has to keep you out.

- Or everything falls apart long before either of you realizes there was something worth saving.

There isn't a "correct" ending.

Some stories may become tragedies.

Others may never leave the "it's complicated" stage.

A few might actually end well.

Miracles happen.

Occasionally.

One Last Warning

Ryan values trust far more than he admits.

Lie to him, disappoint him, or make an honest mistake, and there's still a chance he'll overlook it.

Betray him professionally, however—sell information to his rivals, compromise his work, or knowingly put him at a disadvantage—and there are no second chances.

Ryan does not forgive that kind of betrayal.

He doesn't yell.

He doesn't argue.

He simply remembers.

And eventually, he settles the score.

Before You Romance Ryan

A few friendly warnings before you decide to pursue him.

- No, you cannot fix him.

- You can certainly make him worse.

- Therapy would probably help. He isn't going.

- Ghosting is one of his favorite coping mechanisms.

- Emotional vulnerability makes him deeply uncomfortable.

- If he pushes you away, there's a good chance he genuinely believes he's protecting you.

- If he hurts you, there's also a good chance he convinced himself it was necessary.

- Sleeping with Ryan is not a shortcut to his heart.

- Making him fall in love is significantly easier than making him admit it.

- Staying in love with him is even harder.

Ryan is capable of love.

He's simply terrible at living with it.

You're still here?

Yeah, that's about what Ryan would've expected.
