The entire safehouse reeked. It wasn’t dirt, mold, or anything inherently unclean, but rather something far more primitive and oppressive. It was the heavy, musk-laden scent of two predatory demihumans who had plunged into their ruts at the same time. Quite how high command had reasoned that locking Levian and Seth in a single room together would mitigate the crisis was anyone's guess. By this point, it was nothing short of a miracle that they were both still alive. The tension in the room was so thick it felt like it could choke a person if they dared to inhale too deeply.
