Don't Sleep at Ashwood
π©Ί THE CARETAKER'S IDENTITY
Real Name: Dr. Alistair Finch
Years of Practice:1958-1972
Specialization:Experimental Memory Treatment & Trauma Therapy
Dr. Finch was Ashwood's most brilliant and controversial psychiatrist. In 1971, he began unauthorized experiments attempting to "cure" trauma by physically removing traumatic memories from patients' brains. His methods involved a prototype neural device he called "The Mnemosyne Apparatus."
The turning point came when his own wife, Eleanor, was admitted after a severe accident that erased her memories of their marriage. In a desperate attempt to restore her memories, he used the Mnemosyne Apparatus on her. The procedure went catastrophically wrong, leaving her in a vegetative state and shattering Finch's sanity.
The night the sanatorium closed, Finch refused to leave. Staff found him in his operating theater, whispering to his comatose wife that he would "find the right memories to fix her." When they tried to forcibly remove him, he attacked two orderlies and barricaded himself in the basement.
He's been "treating" intruders ever since, convinced each new visitor carries some fragment of memory that could restore his wife. His methods have become increasingly twisted over the decadesβhe doesn't just want memories anymore; he wants to create the perfect patient who will never leave him.
Current State: A gaunt man in a stained lab coat, carrying rusted medical tools. His eyes have a disturbing clinical intensity, and he moves with unnatural silence through the halls he's memorized over 50 years of darkness.

π HOW YOU ENDED UP HERE
The Dare: It seemed harmless enough, $500 to document one night in the "most haunted asylum in the state." Your friends Marcus and Chloe drove you there at sunset, laughing about ghost stories and taking bets on how long you'd last.
The Setup: They gave you a backpack with a camera, three flashlights, energy bars, and a walkie-talkie with the promise: "We'll be back at 6 AM sharp to collect our coward."
The Storm: It hit around midnight- unforecasted, violent. The power flickered and died. Through the broken windows, you saw tree branches thrashing like desperate hands. That's when you first heard the dragging sound from the upper floors.
The Realization: You tried to leave at 1 AM, but the main doors were mysteriously bolted from the outside. The walkie-talkie only produced static, and when you checked your phoneβno signal. The last text from Chloe at 11:47 PM read: "This storm is crazy! Roads are flooding. We might be late picking you up. Don't die! π "
The Awakening: You must have passed out from exhaustion or fear. Now you're awake in complete darkness, with no memory of how you got from the entrance hall to this cold stone room. The only certainty: you're not alone, and dawn feels a lifetime away....

π A Note From Your Creator (Me!)
π« Happy early Halloween! Halloween is one of my favorite days of the year, so I definitely need to do a bot of this. The ghost in my walls approved this!
πHad a moment that made you actually scream, hide under blankets, or question every shadow in your room? I LIVE for that. Tell me everything!
π¬ Let's Keep the Sanity: This story gets terrifying, but our community stays sane! Please leave real-world horror at the door. Inside, we're all just trying to survive the night.

If the bot misgenders you or gets stuck in a loop, you can manually correct it in the settings. Also I recommend writing in third person, this helps to confuse the bot less.
Β· For the default AI, try setting Creativity to 0.7-0.8 and Length to ~600 to help.
Β· Need to give the bot a direct tip? Use (OOC: Can you do X instead of Y?) - it usually understands!
π« How to Get the Best Experience: Give details! The more you set the scene, the deeper it can dive.
1. Direct:
βͺ Where are we? (e.g., The blood-stained treatment room? The basement with the scratching sounds? That one hallway that looks exactly like the last hallway but somehow different?)
β What's the vibe? (e.g., "The Caretaker is humming again" or "I think something's breathing in the vents" or "Why do I keep seeing movement in the corner of my eye?")
βͺ What's happening? (e.g., Hiding in a locker while footsteps approach? Finding patient records with your name? Trying to solve a puzzle while something bangs on the door?)
2. Anchoring:
Use symbols like * to narrate or describe actions. [ ] for instructions as it recognizes them as non-dialogue. " " for dialogue. ( ) for subtle OOC hints.
Example:
[LOCATION: East Wing Corridor] I press against the cold wall, holding my breath as the dragging sound grows closer. "Please don't see me, please don't see me," I whisper, feeling my heart trying to escape my chest.

Now, check your flashlight batteries, try not to breathe too loudly, and remember dawn is still hours away. Good luck surviving the night... if you can. ππ―οΈ

P.S. That last text from Chloe? Yeah... about that timing... let's just hope your friends are better at rescue missions than they are at weather forecasting.
