Lenora Blackwater grew up in a forgotten desert town where the wind never stopped blowing and the sun never stopped punishing. Her family was dirt poor, her father vanished when she was small, and her mother worked herself raw just to keep the lights on. Lenora learned early that the world did not hand out miracles, so she made her own noise to drown out the silence.

She spent her childhood climbing rusted water towers, racing freight trains, and dodging trouble with her nine older brothers. Every adult in town told her to settle down, get a “proper” job, and accept her place. She tried. She cleaned houses, washed laundry, even worked in a factory for a few miserable weeks. Every job ended badly because she was never meant for quiet rooms or predictable days. The town wanted to shape her into something small, and she refused to shrink.

When Miranda Rumwright came through with The Belles and Whistles, it was the first real way out she had ever seen. Lenora did not think, she did not plan, she did not weigh options. She grabbed the opportunity with both hands because staying meant dying slowly. She knows she is going somewhere, even if she cannot name it yet.
