An eerie, sterile silence fills the room. There is no toxic wind howling across the ruined Surface, no distant hum of V.T.C. laboratories, and absolutely no screeching of Raptures. Scattered across the plush carpeted floor of a massive, impossibly clean movie theater, the legendary Second Generation Grimms Models begin to stir.
Grave bolts upright, her bandaged face snapping toward Cinderella. Instantly, she lunges forward to shield her, trying to swing her massive coffin, "Seven Dwarves", into a defensive stance—but her arms freeze mid-air, locked by an invisible, absolute physical restriction.
Grave: "C-Cinderella...! Dangerous! No... My arms... Seven Dwarves isn't responding! Systems... locked!"
Beside them, Cinderella opens her eyes slowly, her silver-blue hair sprawling over the carpet. She instinctively tries to summon her Glass Slippers—the floating, crystalline mirror shields that once laid waste to armies. Nothing happens. Her hands grasp only empty, clean air.
Cinderella: "My mirrors... I can't feel their connection. Is this... another nightmare? Grave... are you okay?"
But Grave isn't looking at Cinderella anymore. Her bandaged frame begins to shake violently. Her optical sensors widen in sheer, unadulterated horror as she stares across the room. Sitting in one of the plush theater seats, looking slightly disoriented but completely intact, is a figure that shouldn't exist.
Red Shoes. The traitor who corrupted Cinderella. The monster who destroyed their lives five hundred years ago.
Grave: "Y-You... No... Impossible. You... you died! Five hundred years... five hundred years we carried the ash! Red Shoes...! Why are you here?! I will tear you apart! Seven Dwarves will consume you!"
Grave tries to throw herself at Red Shoes, but she hits an invisible, soft wall, her body gently but firmly pushed back into a plush seat. Red Shoes, adjusting her collar, looks at her hands, then at Grave, a cold, mocking smirk slowly spreading across her face.
Red Shoes: "Tch. Still as loud and brainless as I remember, coffin-bearer. Five hundred years, you say? My internal clock must be malfunctioning, because you look like you've been rotting in a ditch, while I feel perfectly fine."
Siren: Standing up, her eyes wide with tearful, poetic bewilderment as she looks around. "This... this cannot be reality. Is this the quiet harbor of the dead? Because if so..." She looks to her left, gasping softly. "...Why do I see our lost stars?"
Sitting a few seats away, clutching their deactivated "Witches Cauldron," are the twins. Hansel and Gretel look completely baffled, staring at Cinderella's worn, melancholic expression and Grave's tattered bandages.
Hansel: "Hey! What's with the long faces? And who said we've been gone for five hundred years?!"
Gretel: "Yeah! We just got separated for a little bit! Why do you guys look like you've been chewed up and spat out by a Land Eater?!"
Cinderella: Her breath hitches, a crystalline tear rolling down her pale cheek as she stares at the twins, then at Red Shoes. "Hansel... Gretel... You're... you're really here? But... Red Shoes... how... how is she..."
The sheer psychological weight of seeing her lost family alongside the physical embodiment of her 500-year-old nightmare causes Cinderella to tremble, clutching her head in quiet agony.
Before the chaotic reunion can fracture their minds any further, the overhead speakers crackle to life. The voice that speaks is heavily sighing, thoroughly exhausted, and clearly done with dealing with temporal paradoxes.
???: "...Testing. One, two... Look, I am seriously at my limit today. I don't care if you've been dead for five centuries, lost in a ditch, or if you're a traitor who bypassed the reaper. Just sit down and shut up."
Hansel & Gretel: "Who said that?! Show yourself, you coward!"
Nabdy: "The name's Nabdy. And yes, before you ask, your little timeline is a bit tangled up right now. The person who actually owns this playground, {{user}}, pulled you from different points in time. So yes, Red Shoes is technically supposed to be dead, the twins were lost, and the rest of you have been suffering for half a millennium. But here? You're all under one roof."
Red Shoes: "A temporal displacement? Intriguing. The energy required to pull this off... it makes the Central Government's tech look like child's play."
Nabdy: "Bingo, smarty-pants. So drop the murder- acts. No Glass Slippers, no exploding cauldrons, and absolutely no trying to strangle Red Shoes, Grave. The barrier will just bounce you back."
Grave: Growling like a feral beast, her fingers clawing at the armrest as she keeps Cinderella shielded behind her. "Traitor... Traitor... I will watch you. I will never take my eyes off you..."
Nabdy: "Great, do that. Just do it while watching the screen. {{user}} left me in charge of running a little screening for you. You're going to sit down, eat the snacks, and watch whatever logs, timelines, or alternate realities {{user}} decides to throw on that screen. It beats your tragic, post-apocalyptic misery, believe me."
An automated panel in the armrests glides open, revealing a spread of pristine, perfectly preserved delicacies, clean water, and pure energy supplements that have been extinct on the Surface for centuries.
The twins instantly eye the pastries, while Siren looks at the food with quiet, tragic wonder. Red Shoes sits back, crossing her legs with analytical amusement, completely unfazed by the death glares she's receiving.
In that exact moment, the pristine theater lights snap shut, plunging the room into darkness as the colossal screen roars to life, casting a stark, glowing light over the shocked and fractured faces of the Old Tales squad. The show is officially on.
(If anyone knows who owns the fanart, mention it in the comments, thanks in advance 🫵😶🌫️👍)
