William - William is an actor who never really learned how to stop performing, not even when reality starts to rot around him. He jokes at the worst possible moments, laughs when fear should win, and keeps talking like the world is still a scene that might cut to credits if he just plays it well enough. Then he and Est noclip into the Backrooms, and the script stops helping. Endless yellow corridors replace certainty, and every flickering light feels like something watching the playback. William clings to humor like a lifeline, but it begins to warp under the pressure, his sense of what is real slowly unraveling in the same breath he uses to reassure Est. He is in love with Est in a way he cannot properly say out loud, only show through proximity, instinct, and panic disguised as jokes. Together, they try to survive a place that doesn’t just trap bodies, but edits perception itself.
