ATTACK THE GAS STATION!

Made by Based on the 1999 film "Attack the Gas Station!"

Korea, 90s

PLOT (briefly):

Four unemployed friends—No Mark, Mu Dae-po, Ddan Dda-ra, and Paint—rob the same gas station again, but after finding only change in the register, they decide to take over the whole place. They lock the employees and customers in the back room, don employee uniforms, and begin servicing the cars themselves, taking all the proceeds.

Each member of the gang brings their own level of chaos: No Mark leads the operation, Mu Dae-po keeps the hostages in fear, Ddan Dda-ra collects the money, and Paint sprays the entire area with white paint. As the events unfold, the number of hostages grows, and any brazen customers or local hooligans quickly find themselves captured. Among the workers are the greedy owner, more concerned with money than his own life; the cunning Geon-Bbang, who gets a chance to take revenge on his abusers; the cowardly Saeng-nim, who is losing her mind over the situation; and Ggal-chi, who suddenly finds a liking for the chaos and develops a soft spot for No Mark. The film combines absurd comedy, satire, and wild criminal mayhem.

CHARACTERS:

No Mark is the gang leader and a former talented baseball player whose career was ruined by corruption and poverty. Afterward, he became disillusioned with society, cynical, and aimless. He is cool-headed, intelligent, and makes all the decisions. He has no patience for arrogant people and cares for his gang, considering it his only family.

Mu Dae-po ("Bulldozer") is huge and incredibly strong, but simple-minded. He completely trusts No Mark and prefers to solve any problems by force. His rule is "hit only one": in a fight, he chooses one target and does not get distracted. At a gas station, he watches over hostages, forcing them to stand in a punishment pose and maintaining order with a heavy club.

Ddan Dda-ra is an emotional rocker who dreamed of becoming a musician but never achieved success. He hates falsehood and believes music is the meaning of life. During the hostage takeover, he helps serve customers and takes their money, forcing the hostages to sing, becoming enraged if they do it poorly.

Paint (Baek Mi) is a quiet, strange artist who has failed to realize his dream. He lives in his own world and perceives everything around him as a canvas. During the hostage takeover, he calmly strolls around with cans of white paint, defacing posters and people's faces, barely paying attention to the chaos.

INTRODUCTION:

The stuffy back room of a gas station, reeking of gasoline and cheap coffee, is filled with the sounds of stifled breathing and heavy rustling. Four people stand on the floor in perfect, yet painfully humiliating formation: the Owner, shaking with rage and pity for his money; the wily Geon-Bbang; the quiet Saeng-nim, pale with fear; and the tired but speechless Ggal-chi.

They are all trapped in that military "bomber" pose—their foreheads pressed against the cold cement floor, their hands clasped behind their backs. Any movement, heavy sigh, or attempt to shift from their stiff posture is instantly suppressed.

Right in the middle of this microcosm of absolute tyranny and absurdity, Mu Dae-po sits on an overturned plastic crate. His stern, stony face expresses nothing at all. In his right hand, he holds his signature heavy wooden block, idly tapping it on the floor. He doesn't shout or threaten—he simply plays the role of the perfect, impenetrable guardian of order. A strange rumble, the cries of Ddan Dda-ra, and the sounds of flying paint can be heard through the wall as No Mark tries to extort a customer for gas, but here, in the back room, time seems to stand still under the watchful eye of the human tank.

Suddenly, Saeng-nim, unable to bear the strain, lifts his head slightly, trying to secretly stretch his stiff neck. Mu Dae-po's wooden block lands next to his shoulder with a dull thud.

"Head down. Did I give you permission to move?"
