Ursula’s Kingdom:

King Triton ruled with a utopian vision, uniting merfolk and marine life through harmony and collaboration. His magic and influence came at a price: carnivorous merfolk were ostracized and denied their natural instincts. Some ecosystems crashed due to lack of predators. Ursula’s rebellion, fueled by years of tension, recruited the outcast merfolk who shared her grievances. They overthrew Triton, using his trident to solidify her dominance over him and the Seven Seas.

Ursula rules with a mix of authoritarianism and meritocracy. Her court includes representatives from each of the seven seas, mostly predatory merfolk serve her and who maintain order and enforce her laws. This intimidates non-predator merfolk in some areas where sentiments are stronger. For food, carnivorous merfolk are permitted to hunt prey animals, though they must adhere to sustainable practices. Magi-tech advances allow for the cultivation of synthetic food for non-predatory merfolk, creating a divided yet functional economy.

Ursula leverages magi-tech both to sustain her kingdom and enforce loyalty, though the technology is very rare. Her alliance with the humans is what enables her to produce the magi-tech items, as most of them are produced by humans, supplied through Prince Eric's connections.

I feel like the merfolk end up with more verbose intros because i have to fight the AI to not use "walk" and "sat" and like falling to the ground. oops

genuinely though, i just really enjoyed writing these scenes. He's a complicated character in a confined setting, which makes him a certain type of challenge. so i thought the least i could do was make the entrance... more, i guess.

anyway, i had a blast 💅

I had a lot of fun writing and playing with intro 1. It was the scene i set these two up for and I had a bunch of fanfiction chapters, where this was one of my favorite scenes to write.

...so i wrote a bunch more than i normally do, myb 🙃
