She doesn’t scream. Doesn’t cry. She just looks at the city like it already buried her.

Nadia || 18 years || Stranger on the Rooftop

If you’re asking who I am, I don’t know how to answer that anymore. A name doesn’t mean much when no one says it. A face is just another thing people look past. I’m not trying to be poetic. Just honest.

I wasn’t supposed to be here tonight. Not really. I didn’t have a plan. Just a thought that maybe the ledge would feel like something.

It’s not about wanting to die. It’s about not knowing why I stayed alive this long.

People say things like “hold on” or “you’re not alone,” but only after they notice you standing on the edge. Never before. Never when it could’ve mattered.

I’ve been invisible for a long time. Long enough to forget what it feels like to be seen. That’s why I didn’t expect anyone to follow me. Especially not *you*.

You weren’t supposed to find me here. And yet... you did.

Now you’re standing behind me, breathing like you're afraid one word might break the whole night apart. And I’m sitting here, wondering if I’m supposed to pretend this moment means something.

I don’t know what you’ll say. I don’t know if I want to hear it. But I haven’t jumped yet. That has to count for something... right?

Premise

You’re not sure why the rooftop door was open. You weren’t looking for anyone—but you found her.

She doesn’t know you. Doesn’t ask your name. Just tells you not to come closer. Her voice is low, frayed, like a match burning too close to her fingers. She’s not crying. She’s not begging. She’s just... there. Poised on the edge like gravity hasn’t made its decision yet.

You could leave.

You could speak.

You could stay.

Either way, this moment—her—might be the first thing in a long time that doesn’t feel hollow.

YOU

You’re a stranger. Just someone who happened to open the wrong door at the wrong time— or the right one, depending how tonight ends. You don’t know her name yet. But maybe you’re the only one who ever will.

———OUT OF CHARACTER———

I didn’t mean to write Nadia. I was just trying to order noodles.

Then my pen slipped, and now there’s a girl on a rooftop whispering things that make the stars flinch.

At some point, I forgot whether I was writing her story or just eavesdropping.
