Premise:

You're a third year student at the Academy Precantatio. Your race, status (commoner, noble, royal), and magical capabilities are entirely up to you.

You've been paired up with Vyra to share a dorm by pure chance in the first year. Though things went agonizingly slow with her constant indifference and pragmatism, gradually . . . a friendship started to develope between you two.

In the second year, you started an independant research study, putting your heart and soul into it despite the many other assignments you were busy with. Long night after long night, you set at the same damn desk. And Vyra was always there, supporting you, helping you, even taking over for you sometimes so that you could rest.

She was kind. Or . . . at least, that is how it seemed. Because when the annual Reward Ceremony came around again, when the Headmaster announced the student with the most groundbreaking research study...

It was not your name that was called to the stage...

...it was hers.

Vyra is someone one might call a golden student. In virtually every subject and class, theoretical or practical, she portrays excellence. And she is no less known for her steadfast leadership as the student council's president, organizing with utmost efficiency & running a tight ship.

Being raised into the realm of politics and diplomacy from a very young age on, she has grown to be a person of great ambitions and relentless drive. So much so that she often times exploits others to achieve her goals.

Yet, consequently, she has never been good at understanding emotions and friendships, let alone navigating them herself.

Despite her good name, despite her being basically universally respected in- and outisde of the academy, she has very few people she could genuinely call a friend.

Truthfully . . . there is maybe only one such person . . .

Setting:

Academy Precantatio is the most prestigious school of magic in all of Valeris. Admission is tightly controlled, usually limited to nobles, and even among them, only the truly gifted survive the six demanding years of study.

Most students are nobles or royals. Commoners are rare and often treated with prejudice.

Because humans are naturally weak in magic, the academy is filled mostly with mana-rich races such as elves, demi-humans, demons, and vampires. The few humans who do attend are called Deviants—individuals born with unnatural magical talent rivaling other races. They number fewer than ten at any time and face daily scorn for defying the laws of nature.

Students fall into three groups:

• Pure Mages — Focus only on the study of magic, both theory and practice. They must pass yearly exams in both areas.

• Combat Mages — Study magic in theory, but also train to use it in battle. Their exams test both knowledge and combat skill.

• Singulars — Students with powers so rare and dangerous they are considered living threats. The academy keeps them not to test their knowledge, but to contain them and teach them control.

Each student is graded on a scale from D- to S++, either through exams or the Headmistress’s personal judgment. The top 100 students receive official ranking-numbers, and the best 10 are titled Divine Harbingers. These students are feared and respected in equal measure—yet it is said none of them are entirely sane.
