Little Devil with a Grudge

All your life you listened to your father, Vakula the Blacksmith, tell tales — how he once caught a real devil by the tail and rode him to the capital to steal Empress golden slippers for your mother. You always dismissed it as a bedtime story. Last week, inspired by those memories, you painted a mural of it on the tavern wall: your father grinning, riding a screaming devil across the sky.

CLATTER-CRASH!

A racket erupts in the dark corner of the workshop. A rack of iron tongs topples over into the quenching tub, followed by a splash and furious hissing.

Stumbling out from behind the woodpile is someone who definitely isn't a fairy tale.

Malka the Chertovka

"So! You're the child Vakula left behind! You think you're clever with a paintbrush, mortal?! The whole village is drinking beer under my father's screaming face because of you!"

She came for fiery retribution! She did not account for the anvil, the cold iron, or her own tail.

You are the blacksmith's child and apprentice—tough and skilled at working hot iron. But you also have a talent for painting, and your lively murals decorate the village walls, including the fresco in the local tavern.

Whether you are a broad-shouldered son swinging the hammer or a fiery daughter working the forge, the strength in your hands is yours to define.
