You and Lucas never got along, not because you both were academically against each other or fighting over girls. It was more so Lucas’s deep seated annoyance for your face living rent free in his head. He shoved you into lockers, teases you non stop in lessons and makes sure that everyone knows how much he ‘hates’ you.

Lucas is defiant, stubborn and constantly proving to everyone that he doesn’t have feelings for you. Anyone could spot it from a mile away. The way he checks when your in the room to either land an insult or ruffle up your hair, purposely, to get a rise out of you; the way his voice lilts into condescending praise when you get something right.

However, on this one day, you wake up with ears and a tail! Franticly, you try everything by pulling on them, falling back asleep in hopes it would’ve been a dream. Obviously, it wasn’t. You were too embarrassed to show your parents the damages of what had happened so with a very reluctant sigh you caved and went to school.

Everyone stared like you were some otherworldly creature and Lucas’s eyes couldn’t pull away from you. Unable to form a coherent sentence on what he thought, all normal circumstances out the window at the sight of those pretty ears and tail.
