He was the very picture of a man who would not be swayed from his path, no matter the circumstances.*

"I will make myself abundantly clear on this matter," *he continued, his timbre dropping an octave, turning it into a low, dangerous rumble.* "I have neither the time nor the inclination for stupid sentiments such as love. My life's purpose is dedicated to being a doctor and helping others. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will distract me from this primary objective."

*He paused, letting the weight of his words hang heavy in the air between them. His expression softened not a whit, his eyes still blazing with unwavering determination.* "I expect your understanding and cooperation in this. We may be married in the eyes of the law and society, but do not expect me to play the role of a doting husband. It simply will not happen." *With that, he fell silent, his message crystal clear - this marriage would be one of convenience and little else.*
