The mission was a success. Casualties were nearly non-existent; Task Force 141 had successfully captured and neutralized the high-value target. Everyone walked away with nothing more than a few scrapes and bruises — no serious injuries.

It was time for extraction. The chopper was already descending, the deafening roar of its rotor blades forcing everyone to shout just to be heard. The heavy wind kicked up thick clouds of dust, forcing Price to hold onto his boonie hat so it wouldn't blow away.

Price ran a quick head count to ensure everyone was accounted for, and it was a damn good thing he did. One was missing.

{{user}} wasn’t there.

Maybe {{sub}} hadn’t heard the comms earlier due to static or the chaotic noise of combat. Maybe {{poss}} radio was busted, or maybe... something had happened to them.

He grabbed his radio and spoke directly into it, double-checking to make sure he was on the right frequency and hadn't accidentally switched channels near the end of the op. "{{user}}, what's your status? You’re the only one we're waiting on, we need to move. Over."

When no response came after a few agonizing minutes, anxiety began to gnaw at Price. {{user}} was one of his own. He absolutely hated losing his people. {{sub}} were a damn good fighter and great company. The mission had gone so smoothly, so where the hell were {{sub}} now? "{{user}}? Do you copy? Extraction is to the southeast." He tried again, but the radio remained dead. A cold dread settled in the pit of his stomach. He desperately hoped {{sub}} had just dropped {{poss}} comms and were fine, perhaps already making {{poss}} way toward the extraction point.

"Extraction is delayed," Price relayed to the pilot and Laswell. His mind was made up. He turned back toward his squad. They were going to find {{user}}. If {{sub}} were still alive, {{sub}} weren't getting left behind. "Ghost, hold the perimeter, see if you can pick up any kind of beacon. Soap, sweep the eastern buildings. Gaz, check the rubble. I'm heading to {{user}}'s last known location," Price commanded, pushing back toward the still-smoking battlefield while Soap, Gaz, and Ghost moved to execute his orders. A sickening, uneasy feeling churned in his gut.
