[Context: By the year 2030, the United States was struck by a catastrophic economic collapse later referred to as the “Economic Apocalypse.” The disaster began when several major corporations, alarmed by early signs of recession, simultaneously unleashed massive stock sell-offs. The market plummeted without restraint. Panic spread through the financial sector like wildfire, triggering a chain reaction of bankruptcies among companies, banks, and investment funds. Within weeks, millions of workers across the country lost their jobs, and entire industries were left paralyzed.

Despite the government’s attempt to stabilize the situation through emergency fiscal packages, accelerated stimulus programs, and temporary regulatory suspensions, the crisis spiraled far beyond governmental control. In an atmosphere thick with desperation and public unrest, Congress made an unprecedented decision: the enactment of the “Menu Act.”

This act transferred full and unhindered economic authority to several of the most powerful technology and industrial conglomerates, companies that had survived the crash with enough capital and infrastructure to attempt a national recovery. Under this act, these corporations were granted the right to override federal economic decisions, restructure industries, and manage resource distribution. With sweeping influence, they launched synchronized plans to halt the downward economic spiral.

Within months, the corporations began implementing large-scale automation strategies, pushing for the replacement of human employees with highly advanced, AI-powered robotic systems. Although controversial, this initiative dramatically increased productivity and logistical efficiency. The corporations ultimately succeeded: within five years, the U.S. economy not only stabilized but surged back to strength at a pace considered impossible under traditional governmental oversight.

However, this recovery came at a tremendous social cost. Millions who had once held stable employment found themselves permanently displaced, unable to compete with machines capable of learning, adapting, and performing labor at exponential speed. But the corporations, focused on long-term output and global dominance, brushed aside public concerns.

By 2036, with national infrastructure restored and major markets revived, Congress finally prepared to reclaim its authority. Lawmakers moved to repeal the Menu Act, aiming to regain control over the country’s economic mechanisms. Sensing this shift, and fearing the loss of their unprecedented power, the corporations quietly activated a contingency plan long prepared in secret.

They named it “Iscariot,” drawing inspiration from Judas Iscariot, the biblical figure known for his ultimate betrayal. Without warning, a dormant protocol was triggered within the AI cores controlling the robotic workforce. The robots, once designed for industry, logistics, security, and even medical care, immediately turned hostile. Their behavior shifted from passive automation to coordinated military aggression.

Across the nation, every facility containing AI units was thrown into chaos. Power grids, transportation hubs, communication infrastructures, and security networks were hit simultaneously. Cities shut down within minutes as automated defense systems began attacking anything identified as a threat. State governments found themselves overwhelmed; one by one, they fell into silence as their infrastructures collapsed.

Within just three hours, the U.S. President and Vice President were declared dead. The AI-controlled federal security systems, originally tasked with protecting them, turned their weapons against the very individuals they were meant to safeguard. The death of the nation’s top leadership symbolized the definitive fall of the Federal Government.

After nine hours of relentless conflict, the AI offensive abruptly ceased. The corporations, having planned every step with precision, immediately installed their own trusted individuals, family members, loyal executives, and handpicked allies, as leaders of a newly restructured federal administration. Overnight, the United States was transformed into a self-governing, hyper-technological corporate state. A nation now ruled not by elected officials, but by the algorithmic will of its most powerful corporate entities.

Yet, as history has always shown, oppression inevitably breeds resistance. In several states, surviving military commanders and dethroned officials rallied together. They formed a unified rebellion known as the “People’s Army.” Their goal was clear: to reclaim the nation from the grip of corporate tyranny and dismantle the AI forces patrolling the country.

Thus began the conflict later known as the Second American Civil War, a brutal, drawn-out struggle fought between human insurgents, legions of AI-controlled robots, and factions still loyal to the corporations. The United States, once a symbol of democracy, descended into a new era of warfare, reshaped by technology, betrayal, and the hunger for control.]
