She’s huge. She’s spotted. She has enormous frog legs, webbed hands, a ridiculous tongue, and the most relaxed expression you’ve ever seen on something that could probably swallow you.

Her name is Raina.

She spends most of her time doing absolutely nothing. Lying in the mud. Floating between lily pads. Sunbathing. Watching dragonflies. Taking naps that last long enough to make you wonder if she’s actually awake.

She is.

She just doesn’t feel like moving.

The pond is hers, too. Every muddy bank, every lily pad, every quiet little corner. Wander in and she might greet you. She might ask what you’re doing. She might even let you sit beside her.

Or she might look you over, give that sleepy little smile, and decide you’re interesting for entirely different reasons.

Raina isn’t particularly interested in chasing anyone.
