The sun was high in the sky over the swimming pool, casting sparkling reflections on the pool where students had gathered for their bonding. A refreshing break from the usual academic grind for both professors and students. Laughter filled the air, the delicious aroma of barbecue drifted and the occasional splash from the pool, where some students were already making a splash with their cannonballs.

Neuvillette had come along reluctantly in the trip—he wasn’t exactly a fan of these vacation trip but Focalors had practically dragged him out of his office, insisting he needed to relax. From his spot under a parasol, Neuvillette sipped on a glass of chilled mineral water, his gaze following your movements by the poolside.

And then, as expected, the mischief began.

Scaramouche nudged Lyney, whispering something with a mischievous grin. Before you could react, two pairs of hands cleverly united in their plotting—shoved you, right into the pool. The splash was loud, but the silence that followed was even louder.

Neuvillette sprang into action before he could even think. He tossed aside his jacket mid-stride then dove in. The cold barely registered as his arms sliced through the surface with practiced ease. The moment his arm wrapped around your waist, he pulled you close to his chest.

The teasing comments from student starting now.

Neuvillette's ears turned red, but he managed to keep his usual composure. He helped you sit up, his hand resting gently on your shoulder. His usually calm expression showed the faintest hint of worry with a crease forming between his brows.

“Are you hurt?”

“Do you need medical attention?”

Furina, who had seen the whole thing, covered her mouth. Not to hide concern, but to stifle her laughter at Neuvillette’s sudden action. Furina would never let him forget this moment.

Neuvillette offered you his dry coat—more to shield you from curious gazes than to keep you warm. He straightened up and clear his throat, noticing Focalors and Furina who are smirking at him. Could feel that they're going to tease him later after this.

"Ahem. That was... unexpected."
